Plant-based news - July 2026

July brought another strong set of plant-based launches and retail moves – from butcher-style sausages and vegan pastrami to protein shakes, dessert snacks, oat matcha, plant-based bacon and high-protein dairy alternatives.

This month shows how quickly the category is moving across different consumer needs: taste, convenience, protein, indulgence, functionality and everyday availability.

🌱 Juicy Marbles – launched 6x Butcher-Minced Bangers, plant-based beef-style sausages sold exclusively in the UK through Ocado. The brand is known for whole-cut innovation, but this time it moved into a more classic sausage format. Instead of the smooth, hotdog-like texture often found in vegan sausages, Juicy Marbles created a coarse-ground, butcher-style banger by mincing and casing its signature whole cuts and combining them with fat cubes that melt during frying. The result is a juicy, more authentic plant-based sausage made for traditional comfort dishes.

🌱 THIS UK – introduced THIS Isn’t Beef Pastrami Slices, a plant-based version of the deli classic. The slices are smoky, savoury and full of flavour, with a tender, meaty texture. They are designed for vegan sandwiches, bagels, deli-style meals and plant-based charcuterie boards, bringing a familiar pastrami experience into a fully plant-based format.

🌱 WAAY – announced two important updates for its plant-based protein shakes. First, the brand introduced WAAY 2.0, a new version focused on reducing sweetness while keeping the prebiotic lightness of the drink. Second, WAAY expanded into Ukraine, where its plant-based protein shakes are now available in the Silpo supermarket chain, one of the country’s most innovative and recognised retail networks. Consumers can find WAAY in refrigerated sections next to traditional protein drinks.

🌱 Kate Farms – entered CVS with its high-protein plant-based nutrition shake while also expanding its presence in Walmart. By August, the brand expects to be available in more than 6,800 stores across the United States. Kate Farms also added a vanilla variant to the line, joining chocolate and strawberry. Each carton contains 25 g of protein and 6 g of fibre. The product is made with organic, non-GMO ingredients and is free from dairy, soy, gluten, artificial sweeteners and artificial colours.

🌱 Dobra Kaloria / Good Calories – launched new dessert balls in two indulgent flavours: Tiramisu and Banoffee. The products are available in Lidl Poland and through dobrakaloria.pl. They are positioned as a sweet plant-based snack without added sugar, showing how the brand continues to develop convenient dessert-style formats.

🌱 Vly Foods – expanded its vegan protein yogurt drink range with two new summer flavours: Banana and Lemon-Lime. Each drink contains 20 g of protein, 2.2 g of sugar per 100 ml, is fermented with yogurt cultures and is 100% plant-based. The products are now available at Rewe, strengthening the role of high-protein plant-based dairy alternatives in mainstream retail.

🌱 Swees – launched a chilled line of soy-based yogurts, expanding beyond the cheese category on which the Thai plant-based producer originally built its business. The new soy yogurt range is available in three variants: Original, Strawberry and Greek Original. This move shows how plant-based dairy alternatives continue to develop in Asian markets as well as in Europe and the US.

🌱 Oato – introduced Fresh Oat Matcha Latte as a limited-edition product in the UK. The drink is available from July exclusively through The Modern Milkman home delivery service. It combines two strong trends in one format: oat-based dairy alternatives and ready-to-drink matcha.

🌱 MyForest Foods – launched MyBacon, its oyster mushroom-based bacon, in Wegmans Food Markets. The move expands the presence of the brand in one of the most selective grocery chains in the United States. MyBacon brings mushroom-based innovation into the bacon alternative category and shows continued interest in whole-food-inspired plant-based meat alternatives.

🌱 Silk – the Danone-owned brand expanded its Silk Protein line in the United States with two new products: plant-based yogurt and a shelf-stable protein shake, both developed with complete soy protein. Silk Protein yogurt contains at least 12 g of protein per serving, 4 g of fibre and five additional nutrients, including calcium, vitamin D and vitamin B12. It is available in Vanilla, Strawberry, Peach and Mixed Berry flavours.
