Plant-based news - August 2024!

1. V-garden has announced the release of a plant-based tuna alternative – containing 20 grams of protein – that can be stored outside the fridge.

2. Squeaky Bean, a producer of plant-based foods, has launched Vegan Crispy Bacon Strips in a ready-to-eat formula.

3. Raw Halo presented plant-based chocolate giant buttons in two flavors: MYLK* & HAZELNUT and DARK & SALTED ALMOND

4. During the Paris Olympics – in 2024 – plant-based dishes accounted for ⅔ of all meals in the offerings of a large proportion of restaurant facilities. Interestingly – as reported by organizers – at the Place de la Concord, a skatepark area, restaurants completely abandoned meat-based meals. One of the chefs at the Games was Michal Fabiszewski – Head Chef at Sodexo.

5. Shicken Foods – a British producer of a plant-based chicken alternative – has announced that its Tikka Kebab has been introduced in Costco chain stores in the northern US.

6. Shandi presented a plant-based shawarma that looks like a real and huge piece of meat. It looks like many fast food bars – with kebabs and wraps – will find the perfect supplier.

7. A new player, Millow, has entered the Swedish market for producers of plant-based meat alternatives. The company is engaged in developing a wide range of mushroom-based products.

8. Oatly has expanded distribution with a small plant-based coffee milk alternative with a 20 ml capacity. The product has appeared – among others – in the Polish chain of Żabka stores.

9. The Green Mountain – a Swiss producer of plant-based chicken alternatives – has unveiled 2 new products created with a pea base: paprika and classic.

10. Planted is expanding its distribution. Products from the Swiss producer of plant-based meat alternatives have appeared in the stores of the MPRESI chain (Austria), as well as – as a temporary offer – in the stores of the Biedronka chain (Poland).

11. THIS has introduced “The Thighs” to the ASDA chain’s store offerings.

12. Krispy Kreme has launched 3 new vegan donut flavors: salted caramel, blueberry and cinnamon.

13. Wild Earth has launched a plant-based cat food – Unicorn Pate.
