Plant-based news - April 2026
April brought a strong wave of plant-based launches – from coconut kefir, soy-free tofu and quick meals to plant-based salmon, frozen chocolate-covered fruits and new matcha protein. The market is not slowing down. Quite the opposite: it is getting faster, broader and tastier.
The Coconut Collab (Joe Farrar) – launched its new Natural Kefir in Sainsbury’s and Ocado Retail. Creamy, slightly zingy and coconut-based, it contains billions of live bacteria, vitamins, calcium and fibre.
Big Mountain – expanded its US distribution with Soy-Free Tofu, Smoked Soy-Free Tofu and Sriracha Soy-Free Tofu, now available in selected Walmart stores.
Bezmięsny (Rafał Czech, Igor Sadurski) – introduced the new Bezmięsny Quick Dinner line, featuring seven products: burgers, nuggets, falafel, mince, schnitzel, grill products and fillets. Fast preparation, up to 30 g of protein per pack, fibre, and enrichment with vitamin B12, iron and zinc.
TREETS (Stephanie Katharina Schuth, Marco Bauer) – is bringing its vegan colourful snacks to more and more German stores, including Edeka, Kaufland, Rewe, V-Markt, Globus and Tegut. Vegan snacking is going mainstream.
Good Calories / Dobra Kaloria (Szymon Ryngwelski) – launched a new soft and creamy falafel, now available in every Lidl store in Poland. A quick, versatile option for salads, pita, tortillas or snacking.
Oshi Seafood (Ofek Ron, Eden Hazansky) – brought its plant-based salmon fillets to Jubilee Marketplace. The product is gluten-free and contains 18 g of protein per serving.
NUCAO (Mathias Tholey, Kevin Heiden) – entered the frozen aisle with nucao Frozen Fruits, now available at Alnatura. Organic fruits covered in crunchy chocolate, vegan & fair, in four varieties: Pistachio Raspberries, Duo Choco Strawberries, Duo Choco Mangos and Matcha Raspberries.
Happyvore (Hortense Remy, Guillaume Dubois, Celma Leclercq) – launched new 100% plant-based roast slices. Rich in protein, with 23 g per 100 g, a source of fibre, delicately smoked in taste and offering up to 55% less CO₂ than the meat equivalent. Available at Leclerc, Carrefour and Auchan.
THIS (Pete Sharman, Andy Shovel, Emily Bowers) – had a very busy April with several launches: Superveg Butter Bean Garlic & Paprika Slices, Butter Bean and Red Lentil Burger with Chilli & Lime, THIS Isn’t Roast Chicken Slices, THIS Isn’t Pork Salami Slices and the standout Fillet Steak with Cracked Black Peppercorns. Products appeared in Tesco, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s and Waitrose.
La Vie Foods (Roman Jolivet, Noa Mallet, Manuela Kemlin) – introduced new pan-fry tofu with teriyaki sauce. 100% natural, made in France with French soy and no preservatives. Available online, in vegan stores and in supermarket plant-based sections.
Pulse Protein (Emna Everard, Tatiana Nossent, Maelanne Gerard) – launched Matcha Protein Powder: plant-based, easy to digest, with 19 g of protein per serving, no added sugar, a complete amino acid profile and a subtle matcha taste.
NALU (Max Schön) – added its second vegan novelty: Blueberry Qualle, a fruity blueberry-flavoured plant-based snack available through the brand’s online shop.
Magda plant-based – launched new Amoo desserts in coconut and chocolate-nut flavours. 100% plant-based, lactose-free, gluten-free and soy-free.
