Plant-based news - June 2026

June brought another set of interesting plant-based launches and market moves – from ready-to-drink matcha and plant-based chicken alternatives in Polish retail to whole-cut steak, coconut-based acquisitions, protein snacks and dessert-style plant-based yogurts. This month shows how strongly the plant-based category is developing across different formats: drinks, meat alternatives, chilled snacks, functional protein products and indulgent dairy alternatives.

🌱 MBG International Premium Brands – launched Matchami, a vegan ready-to-drink matcha beverage based on oats. The drink is available in two 250 ml slim can variants: Matchami Matcha, combining matcha tea with a delicate vanilla note, and Matchami Berry Berry Lady, focused on a fruity berry flavour. Both versions contain 0.6% powdered green matcha tea. The product is designed for convenience: no preparation, no waiting – just open and drink. Matchami is available online in packs of 12 or 24 cans.

🌱 Biedronka / Go Vege / Plantway – one of the long-awaited plant-based launches in Poland arrived in Biedronka stores, operated by Jerónimo Martins. The Go Vege range introduced two plant-based chicken alternatives produced by Polish company Plantway: Vege Gyros and Vege Classic. Plantway is already known for its plant-based alternatives to chicken, beef burgers, tuna, bacon and lamb-style products, and this retail launch brings its chicken-style formats to a much wider consumer base.

🌱 Beyond Meat – introduced Beyond Steak Filet to US retail for the first time. The plant-based whole-cut steak is now available at Wegmans and H-E-B. Since its launch on Beyond Meat’s direct-to-consumer platform in October 2025, the product has become the brand’s number one selling item on the site. Beyond Steak Filet contains 28 g of plant protein, 3 g of fibre and just 1 g of saturated fat per serving. It is made with mycelium and avocado oil, contains no added antibiotics or hormones, is Non-GMO Project Verified and has received Clean Label Project Certification.

🌱 Danone – signed a definitive agreement to acquire MADE Group, an Australian food and beverage company. MADE Group’s portfolio includes Cocobella, a brand known for plant-based coconut water and coconut yogurt. The move strengthens Danone’s presence in better-for-you beverages and coconut-based plant products, showing continued interest from large food companies in plant-based and functional categories.

🌱 Endori – launched a new chilled version of its vegan chicken sticks. The product combines wheat-protein-based plant chicken with cheese alternative, paprika flavour and a crispy coating. Made in Germany, the recipe is based on wheat protein and coconut oil, contains no flavour enhancers and no palm oil. The sticks can be prepared in just a few minutes in a pan, oven or air fryer. One pack contains 180 g, with five pieces, and the suggested retail price is €2.99.

🌱 POP / Pure Organic Performance – entered the market with certified organic energy balls containing more than 20 g of protein per 100 g. The range is available in five flavours: Blackcurrant + Cocoa, Matcha + Almonds, Salted Sesame, Hazelnut Nougat and Salted Peanuts. It is another example of how plant-based protein is moving into convenient, snackable and more premium everyday formats.

🌱 Alpro – launched a new Dessert Style Brownie Flavour in Germany, now available at Edeka, Rewe and Kaufland. The product is part of Alpro’s Dessert Style range, which reimagines classic dessert flavours in the plant-based yogurt aisle.

The launch taps into two strong consumer directions: healthier indulgence and exciting flavour experiences. June 2026 shows that plant-based innovation is not slowing down. Ready-to-drink formats, whole-cut meat alternatives, high-protein snacks, coconut-based products, chilled convenience foods and dessert-inspired dairy alternatives are all gaining momentum.

For producers and R&D teams, the message is clear: consumers are looking for plant-based products that are convenient, enjoyable, functional and easy to fit into everyday routines.
