From barista oat milk formats to oat-mycelium fermentation breakthroughs - the plant-based category is showing no signs of slowing down. Here’s what made headlines this month: 🌱
1. Oatly gets practical: Oatly is rolling out a new 3×1.5L Barista Edition multipack in the UK – complete with a carryable case. A smart move for coffee professionals and high-volume kitchens looking to optimize space without compromising quality. ☕
2. A new “baby” from Nicolas Hartmann and the Vly team: The new Mango Shake from vly is packed with functional benefits: 20g plant protein, 38% calories from protein, 28 vitamins and minerals, 30% of your daily requirements. Only 232 kcal per bottle! Now available at Rewe and online. 🥭
3. Bezmięsna Truflowa – for flexitarians with taste: Igor Sadurski and Rafał Czech (Plenty Reasons) just launched Bezmięsna Truflowa, a bold new plant-based deli option. With 25g protein per 100g, an intense truffle aroma, and a short, simple ingredients list, it’s already available at Auchan Polska.
4. Billie Green’s meatballs hit the chilled aisle in June: Billie Green is introducing vegan meatballs designed to look and taste homemade – juicy, rustic, and high in protein (26g/100g).
5. KFC France x La Vie™: Nicolas Schweitzer – La Vie™ is teaming up with KFC France (Isabelle Herman) to launch three new permanent veggie recipes, featuring La Vie’s famously convincing plant-based bacon. Since early 2024, KFC has already sold over 1 million veggie products, with some customers mistaking them for the original.
6. Vandemoortele plant-based pastry line grows: Paweł Łopata and Iwona JANECKA unveiled Banquet d’Or® Plant-Based, including a croissant and a chocolate roll with full taste and reduced carbon footprint. Designed to meet the needs of today’s increasingly conscious foodservice buyers.
7. Wege Siostry take Gold at WorldFood Poland 2025: Wege Siostry just won the Plant-Based category for their creamy, herbed Smarowaniec – a spread made from cashews, fava bean and pea protein, and live cultures.
8. Dreamfarm lands at Albert Heijn: Dreamfarm foods launched their plant-based stracciatella in the Netherlands, with listings in Albert Heijn. They also debuted a mini mozzarella (almond-based) at Tuttofood Milan 2025.
9. Millow.co opens the world’s first oat & mycelium protein factory: [Esmaeil Taherzadeh and Andreas Hallingström officially launched Millow’s 2,500 m² site in Gothenburg, built in a former LEGO facility.
10. Poland celebrates National Plant-Based Week – #NPBW just wrapped – a nationwide celebration of plant-based living, filled with events, talks, and of course, great food.
